Institute of WorkComp Professionals

Master WorkComp Advisors (MWCA) Designation

Master the Gray Areas of Workers' Comp

A hands-on, deep-dive workshop for agents who want to solve the problems that baffle the carriers

The Master WorkComp Advisor (MWCA) is the highest designation offered by the
Institute of WorkComp Professionals. This isn’t another survey course, it’s a
three-day live workshop where you dig into the technical mechanics that
separate the top-performing agents from everyone else: mid-term policy
rewrites, ownership combinability, classification landmines, bureau manual
errors, and claims strategies that actually move the needle.

The MWCA is built for experienced agents who already hold the CWCA or CWCS
designation and want to go deeper. You’ll work through real scenarios in a
small group limited to 10 attendees — no lectures, no pre-recorded video,
just live problem-solving with practitioners who do this work every day.

Who Should Attend

The MWCA Institute is designed for insurance agents and agency staff who have
earned the Certified WorkComp Advisor (CWCA) or Certified WorkComp Specialist

regularly quoting workers’ comp accounts and want to move beyond the basics —
handling complex mods, catching bureau errors, and building claims strategies
your competitors can’t match — this is your next step.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Master WorkComp Advisor (MWCA) designation?

The MWCA is the most advanced designation offered by the Institute of WorkComp Professionals. It is a three-day live online workshop that goes
beyond the foundational CWCA and CWCS programs into the technical mechanics of workers' compensation — including mod analysis, Basic Manual interpretation, classification strategy, and claims management.

What are the prerequisites for the MWCA?

You must hold either the Certified WorkComp Advisor (CWCA) or Certified WorkComp Specialist (CWCS) designation and be an active member of the
Institute of WorkComp Professionals.

How long is the MWCA course?

The MWCA Institute consists of three 3.5-hour live online sessions, totaling 10.5 hours of instruction spread across three days.

Is the MWCA approved for continuing education credits?

Yes. The MWCA Institute is approved for 12 CE credits in 13 states: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina,
Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Additional state approvals are added regularly.

How is the MWCA different from the CWCA or CWCS?

The CWCA teaches producers the fundamentals of workers' compensation and the Institute's process for winning and retaining accounts. The CWCS covers the same material for agency support staff. The MWCA builds on both — it assumes you already know the process and takes you into the advanced technical problems that most agents and even many underwriters struggle with. The format is also different: small group (10 max), case-study driven, and entirely live.

Does earning the MWCA extend my existing designation?

Yes. Attending the MWCA Institute extends your CWCA or CWCS designation and gives you the opportunity to earn the Master WorkComp Advisor designation upon passing the essay exam.
