Healthy offices equals better workers

Research Alerts reports that a 2006 US Workplace Survey found that healthy working conditions (25%) top employees’ list of most important factors for an efficient office. More than one-third of workers (35%) say that their offices fail to promote a healthy working environment. Nearly nine in 10 (89%) say that their office environment affects their attitude toward work and fully 90% say that it affects their job satisfaction.

While employers often give attention to compensation and benefits issues, some may not give sufficient attention to what can be called “healthy working conditions.” Since job satisfaction appears to depend on such matters, it’s safe to suggest that a “healthy culture” may very well contribute to reducing job-related injuries.
