Study Finds Rest Breaks
Minimize Eye Strain and Increase Speed Among Data Entry Workers
A new study by the National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health (NIOSH) supports earlier studies that supplemental rest
breaks reduce discomfort and eye strain among data entry workers, without
impairing productivity.
Findings showed that when workers took 4 supplementary five-minute breaks
over the course of the day:
• Discomfort and eyestrain ratings were significantly lower
•
Data-entry speed was significantly faster
•
Work output was maintained, despite replacing
20-minutes of work time with break time |
